Liberty County maintains over 258 miles of County roads; many of those miles are dirt. The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) allows our Road Department to maintain the roads that we currently have through fixing pot holes, mowing the grass along the sides, and grading the dirt roads on a regular schedule.
Another point that we overlook that SPLOST plays a big part in is drainage. Over the years, SPLOST has been responsible for maintaining the Peacock Canal and other drainage features within Liberty County, without which we would have a much larger flooding problem.
