SPLOST Historical Cultural Grant

Historic Cultural Grant Flyer 2023

The new Special Purpose Sales Tax once again contains funding to assist with capital outlay projects including the acquisition, construction, and equipping of historic and cultural art facilities within the county. Eligible applicants include those entities organized as a non-profit corporation existing under the State of Georgia whose primary mission is the furtherance of historic and cultural sites in Liberty County. Applications are available on the county website at Libertycountyga.com and will be accepted until 5:00 pm Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

All applications must be completed fully and must be signed by the owner of the site proposed for improvement or the registered agent of the corporation if the site is not in sole ownership. Funds may be requested for capital improvement purposes only. That is, addition of a permanent structural change or restoration of some aspect of the historic/cultural site that will enhance the property’s value, prolong its useful life, or adapt it to new uses. Use of funds for operational costs or for purposes not specified in the initial application is prohibited. Successful applicants must execute an easement and operations agreement with Liberty County for a ten (10) year period which includes semi-annual reporting on the maintenance and condition of the proposed improvement(s) and provisions related to the submission of detailed receipts for expenditure of funds.

Approved applicants are expected to be notified in September. Funding distributions will depend on the number of applications received and amounts currently available in the Special Purpose Sales Tax account designated for these purposes.
